The United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians in Oklahoma is a sovereign nation that is federally recognized by the U.S. government. It has its own chief, officials, elected representatives and ambassadors. Our constitution and bylaws were ratified on October 3, 1950.
The United Keetoowah Band is governed by the UKB Tribal Council, the supreme governing body. On the council sits four officers including the chief, assistant chief, treasurer and secretary, as well as nine district representatives.
