FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

"I swore a sacred oath to defend the Constitution and Corporate Charter of the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians in Oklahoma and to work for equality and equity for the Keetoowah people within our territory.

The simple fact is that the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin have proposed appropriations language that is a blatant attack on the Keetoowah people, but the bigger threat is to all of Indian Country! The tyrannical process in which the language was drafted and made its way to the Senate Appropriations Committee and the Department of the Interior sets a precedent that should have every Tribal Nation in America concerned. I now implore all Natives throughout Indian Country to voice your opposition against the attempt to oppress a Federally Recognized Tribe through an appropriations bill in Congress.

Oppression is oppression no matter the justification!

Wado and I-Ne Na!"
