“The United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians welcomes President Trump's FY2027 Budget Request and its meaningful investments in Indian health. The proposal reflects a serious commitment to the federal trust responsibility, and we are encouraged by what it means for Tribal nations and UKB Members.
“The Administration is requesting $9.094 billion for the Indian Health Service, a $1.1 billion increase over current enacted levels. For the UKB and Tribal nations across this country, that number means hospital beds, clinic hours, and needed care that reaches our Members where they live.
“We are particularly encouraged by the proposed increase of $202.6 million for Hospitals and Health Clinics, and the $57.7 million increase for Purchased and Referred Care. These investments go directly to the places where the UKB is expanding services for our Members.
“Sovereignty is lived by the UKB on the Oklahoma Cherokee Reservation where we exercise our right to govern, to provide for our Members, and to chart our own course. Our collective wellbeing and prosperity start with the health and wellness of our Members. This budget moves in the right direction. We thank President Trump and the Trump Administration. The UKB urges Congress to adopt these increases and build upon them.”
