FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
"On behalf of the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians, I congratulate Alan Armstrong on his appointment to the United States Senate – and thank Governor Stitt for a thoughtful choice on behalf of Oklahoma.
Alan Armstrong has spent his career building something of lasting value. As executive chair of Williams Companies, he understands how energy, infrastructure, and economic development are interconnected – and how decisions made in Washington shape the lives of communities across this state.
Governor Stitt said Alan's story reflects the best of Oklahoma. We share that sentiment. And we would add: the best of Oklahoma includes its tribal nations – sovereign governments with a government-to-government relationship with the United States, grounded in treaties ratified by the Senate itself.
We look forward to engaging Senator Armstrong's office in a relationship that serves not only our Members, but all who call the Oklahoma Cherokee Reservation home."
– Chief Jeff Wacoche, United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians
